STATE OF THE LODGE (May, 2014)

Totanhan Nakaha 16

“State of the Lodge”

In the past year, Totanhan Nakaha has been succeeding to provide a quality program for our youth. We have achieved JTE gold for the second year in a row and have improved in a variety of areas. We have succeeded at providing service to our community and to scouting. Our Fort Snelling annual wreath cleanup, hosted by the kaposia chapter, provided the staff at Fort Snelling with hundreds of hours of service, and made this task able to be completed in just a few hours of actual time. We also provided service to our council camps, making them able to open on time for the 2013 summer season. We had a showing at the 2013 jamboree as well, with several of our arrowmen serving on OA staff. We improved communication by publishing a lodge-wide newsletter, and creating a cub scout crossover promotional video for the council. Our trading post has also been changed a bit, adding in new ideas for a “segment” program for lodge events, and a few items that youth have been wanting to see for a long time. Also, we have continued to carry on our main events; fall fellowship, winter banquet, and CYCLE(Council Youth Camping Leadership Experience), as we have in the past years. Also we have had a large push for even more youth involvement within the lodge. In all, Totanhan Nakaha is continuing to provide a quality program for our youth, as well as providing service to our council and community, and improving many key areas of lodge function.
